Welcome to the Fun House

Welcome to the place where I tell you what's on my heart. I've been writing for fun for years, and I've always wanted to start a blog, but never got around to doing it. I finally realized that maybe I have been depriving the world of my profound insight for too long... actually, I mostly just realized how much I miss writing with my own voice rather than an "academic voice." So I am creating this blog to make sure that I never lose my voice, and who knows, maybe it will help you find yours (disclaimer *results not typical* for best results read it in my voice).

I figure I should start off this blog by updating you about where I am right now. Currently I am sitting on my couch wearing a mis-matched outfit of yellow shorts, high-lighter yellow nike dri-fit socks and my orange Pi Day 5k shirt. I chose to sit on the love-seat because...

Oh, you were probably hoping for more information about where I am in life, not an at-this-moment update. That's so nice of you for caring.

On June 14, 2014 I graduated high school, wide-eyed and ready to take on the world. After serving with Child Evangelism Fellowship for the summer, my parents and I packed up our mini-van and started the 19-hour trek to my new home. Cedarville University is a gem located in the middle of corn-fields. The private Christian school is worth every hour of travel, ounce of energy and dime of money that I've put into it thus far (I mean seriously look at that sunset).

I could spend this whole post talking about the amazing church I found, friends I've made, groups I've joined and jobs I've landed, but I'll save that for another post, because after all my life isn't that interesting and I can't get rid of all my post ideas right away. Seriously though I can't wait to tell you how God has changed my mindset spiritually, socially and academically this past year.

Currently I am on track to graduate in 2017 from Cedarville with a B.A. in Psychology. That means that between working on my tan, chasing after kids and chilling with my family, I will also be taking 4 classes this summer (it's not as bad as it seems). For now I'm working odd jobs like cleaning cars and substitute teaching to make some (much-needed) money before my full-time summer job with CEF starts back. Once again I could tell you all about what that job means to me and how it's changed my life, but seriously why would you ever come back after I tell you all the good stuff in the first post?

So here's the first of hopefully many posts on this blog. As you can tell the posts are a bit odd, but hey who wants the world to be bland? I mean haven't you read "The Giver?" That world is soooo BORING! I could say something cliché like "expect the unexpected with this blog" but well... that's to be expected. Instead I'll say to expect this blog to be real, a little messy (like my room), unorganized (like my desk), and touchy-feely (like those conversations at 3 am), but mostly it'll be fun, sarcastic, crazy, random and genuine, just like me. I hope to tell you hilarious stories (that you probably won't find funny), give you great advice (that you probably won't follow) and inspire you to do something great (like become president or something). So here's to reclaiming my voice, and maybe helping you out along the way. Thanks for joining me on the journey. Finally, for those of you who have no clue who I am or want to see how much I've changed since college, I've included a few great pictures of me to help you out.

(P.S. Wow, if you read all of this you are better than me. I mean seriously, I checked out after the second paragraph. I feel like I should say "Thank You" or something, so uhh: Thanks for reading this entire thing and I hope you are crazy enough to do it next time too!)
